The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser-packaging

I had a really long battle with pimples and acne since teenage, although my skin is much better now but I do experience them now and then. Also, as my skin is oily so I have to be extra careful with my cleansing routine and products associated with it. I do thorough research of ingredients used before buying any skin care product. Lately I have been reading a lot about the wonderful effects of tea tree oil on oily skin and during my trip to Newly opened The Body Shop store in CP I got the chance to pick their tea tree foaming face wash. As tea tree oil is a very important component so let’s read a little about it:

What is tree tea oil?
Tea tree oil is an extract from a plant native to Australia. It was used as a tropical treatment by the aboriginal people for centuries.

Benefits of Tea tree oil?
Tea tree oil has been used as topical antiseptic and to treat fungal infection. It works very well to reduce Acne, dandruff, ring worm, corns, soothe the itching of insect bites.

Here is what The Body Shop claims about the Product:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

• Gently but effectively cleanses skin
• Removes make-up and impurities
• Regular cleansing will help keep skin blemish-free.

Texture: The Tea Tree Foaming cleanser has a very light foamy texture which forms leather upon application. It does not feel harsh on skin.

Application: I take out 2 pumps on my palm and then apply smoothly in circular motions with tip of fingers on my face and neck. Kindly make sure to use only adequate amount of cleanser, start with one pump and if you feel it is not cleansing the face properly then you can take out more product. The cleanser gives very cool sensation when comes into contact with the skin.

Result/Verdict: I have been using The Body Shop Tea tree foaming cleanser from past 2 months and I am satisfied with the result I am getting. I have very oily skin and the daily travelling results into dirt, dust and clogging of pores. This cleanser helps cleaning the skin thoroughly hence avoids the acne and pimples, however it does not controls the oil. My T-zone gets oily with in an hour of using this cleanser unlike H2O plus Sea Clear Mattifying Cleansing Mousse which controls the oil for considerable amount of time. However I am adamant to use another bottle due to the magical tea tree oil in this cleanser. Totally recommend it!!

Pros:

  1. Travel Friendly Packaging.
  2. Foamy and light weight texture.
  3. Feels very gentle on skin.
  4. Contains Tea tree oil which is very good to reduce acne and pimples.
  5. Cleanses the face thoroughly, No oil residuals left behind.

Cons:

  1. Does not control the oil.
  2. Expensive.

Why Sulphate free Shampoo

Why Sulphate free Shampoo??

In recent years you might have heard much debate about the harmful effects of Sulphate in Shampoos, shower gel etc. It got me intrigued and I decided to do some research on it.

What are Sulphates?
Sulphates are what makes the shampoo turns into thick foam or leather. Apart from cleansing your hair it strip natural oils from them and make them dry and frizzy.

What can you expect by switching to Sulphate free Shampoo?
Sulphate free shampoos do not completely wash away the hair’s moisture or natural oils. They do not produce much leather but certainly cleanses the scalp and hair. However if you have severe oily and greasy hair then sulphate free shampoos may not have quite enough power to clean your strands as much as you want.

Who should use Sulphate free Shampoos?
Well there is no hard and fast rule about that. But if you have curly, dry and frizzy here or a sensitive scalp or chemically treated and coloured here then it would be good for you to switch to Sulphate free shampoos. Sulphate free shampoos maintains your natural hair texture.

Did I tried Sulphate free Shampoo?
Yes, I have been using The Body shop rainforest moisture shampoo and conditioner for dry hair from past 3-4 months.  The Body shop rainforest moisture shampoo maintains my natural curls and my hair feels less frizzy but it makes my scalp dry.  Still I am content that I am not treating my hair to harmful chemicals. I will keep using it and searching for a more suitable sulphate free shampoo.

Revlon Ultra HD lipstick – Poinsettia review and swatches

Revlon ultra HD lipstick – Poinsettia

MRP: Rs. 1,100

I was waiting for the launch of Revlon HD lipsticks in India as I was very intrigued with the idea of HD lipsticks and their gel like formula. I had visited the store and tried almost all the colors including the one Emma Stone is wearing in the print ad but I was disappointed when lip color looked very much different on me. Nonetheless I chose a very beautiful and bringer red shade called Poinsettia.

As far as the HD quality finish is concerned, the HD in beauty world means flawless. So i am assuming it to be flawless color and smooth finish.

Another drawback is that the lipstick does not swivel completely down so when each time I put the cap down I end up taking a bit of lipstick with it. Very baddd 🙁

Description: Revolutionary wax-free gel technology for true color clarity in one smooth swipe. Available in 20 high-definition shades.

Features:  Revlon patent-pending wax-free gel technology delivers true color clarity without the heavy feel.
• High definition color in one smooth swipe.
• Available in 20 high-definition shades.

Tag Line: The tag line is “True Color Clarity without the heavy Feel” and  I totally agree to this, it feels so light and feather like on lips.

Packaging: The Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks come in reflective/transparent silver tubes with clear plastic caps.

Color: Poinsettia is vibrant shade of red with blue undertone.

Formula/Texture: The texture is very light, creamy and smooth. Lipstick glides very smoothly on the lips giving them a very even finish. The formula is hydrating as well, it does not make the lips dry but it is always advisable to use lip balm underneath lipstick if you have dry lips. Poinsettia HD lipstick is very forgiving on my lips, it does not highlight the dry or flakiness.

Application: The tip of the lipstick is flat and wide so it was hard for me to get the precise application around the top of the upper lip and corners of the lips.

Pigmentation: 2 swipes gives the good color coverage but if you have very pigmented lips then it may not cover them fully.

Longevity: Poinsettia HD lipstick stayed on me for 4-5 hours and it definitely needs touch-up/reapplication after meal.

Pros:

  1. True to its claim the lipstick offers flawless finish and feels very light on lips.
  2. Beautiful red shade which is ideal for regular/ office wear.
  3. Buttery smooth texture.
  4. Good moisturising ability.
  5. Nicely pigmented.
  6. Good color pay off.

Cons:

  1. Very average packaging.
  2. The bullet shape is not ideal for application.
  3. Fragrance is too strong but then it fades away after some time.

My Verdict: True to its claim it feels very light on lips, full points to Revlon for that. I just wish it had more staying power.

Rating: 4.5/5.

Texture/Formula: I love this range for the texture, finish and formula. It feels so lightweight and smooth on lips, as if you are not wearing anything. The formula keeps the lips moisturised for long hours. I have been wearing it daily for office and I love how it keeps my lips soft and supple even after 5-6 hours.  Also, it primes the lips and does not highlight the fine lines or dryness. I am swooned over by the texture and formula, no lipstick range has this much of moisturising properties, it is a boon for the beauties with dry lips.

Application: Application is easy and smooth due to the great texture.

Pigmentation: Pigmentation is nice and 2 swipes gives the enough color coverage. I tend to swipe it more as I love the rich dark coke color.

Longevity: I had a wear time of 5-6 hours without meals. The color fades after meal and requires a touch up but the moisturising aspect still remains the same even if you do not touch-up. Moreover It fades very evenly.

Staining: It does not stain the lips.

Pros:

  1. Very nice and sturdy packaging.
  2. Dark rich coke color, ideal for Indian skin tone.
  3. True to its claim, it is one of the best moisturised lipsticks available in market.
  4.  Glossy finish.
  5. Lightweight texture.
  6. Good Pigmentation.
  7. Blend of primer+lipstick, one of a kind formula.
  8. Good staying power.
  9. Fades evenly.
  10. It does not stain the lips.

Cons:

  1. High Price.
  2. Transfers on cups and glasses.

My Verdict: I have raved enough, I am in love with Cola pop and would buy atleast one more shade from this range.
